Computer Engineering Program


Computer engineers must understand logic design, microprocessor system design, computer architecture, computer interfacing, and continually focus on system requirements and design. These courses help with system design, problem-solving and building innovative solutions to some of the world's most significant issues. During the first year, a strong foundation of mathematical and programming skills relevant to computer engineering is built. It concentrates on design, implementation, verification, and analysis of computing systems involving both hardware and software. Since, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering partially overlaps Computer Science and Electrical Engineering programs.

Program Structure

The departmental mission is to provide the right nurturing environment in order to produce graduates with exceptional creative thinking and problem solving skills to become creative members of the society. This shall be achieved by exposing them to world class curriculum, state of the art labs, access to latest research and exposure to latest technical trend via strong industrial-academic linkage. This specialty of computer engineering requires adequate knowledge of electronics and electrical systems. Engineers working in this area work on enhancing the speed, reliability, and energy efficiency of next-generation very-large-scale integrated circuits and microsystems. An example of this specialty is work done on reducing the power consumption of VLSI algorithms and architecture.

In addition, you will study how computers communicate in communication networks and study advanced Internet communications. You will also have a technical elective which will allow for customization of your program. You will also undertake a year long computer engineering design course where you will complete an open-ended project under the supervision of a faculty member. This general-purpose Computing Lab provides open access support for computer science and computer engineering students.
